Oleg Timchenko was born in old district of Tbilisi in 1957. He went to local public school, and in 1982 he graduated Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1917, shortly after Russian revolution, the family of Oleg Timchenko's mother – Gulitskiis, moved to Georgia. They had to flee homeland because of the danger of repressions, which would for sure occur due to the nobel origin of their family.

Grandfather of the painter, Evgenyi Gulitskii, was a famous businessman. He was aiding first Russian aviators and various progressive hi-tech projects of his time. While his brother, Konstantine, was working in a royal chancellery of the Emperor Nicholas II.

Father of painter – Ivan Timchenko was originally from Vitebsk, Belarus – birthplace of Marc Chagall. After graduating Geological Institute, Ivan Timchenko was working in Caucasus, where he met Oleg's mother – his future wife and stayed to live in Tbilisi.

During 1987-1991 years, Oleg was working as a painter in Marjanishvili Theater. Meanwhile Timchenko and his friends created theatric group called "10-th floor" - several years later he created painters' group "Marjanishvili."
